I think you will find that most of the modern ones have one.

Sorry about that, do you have a particular reason for asking?

I think "NO" ????
The only AMC i ever saw with a better front brake had a
TWIN Leading shoe type.
This bike came out of the factory and was completed by .
The late Ernie Dorsett,he sold it.
Wher it is now i would like to know.

Ther was a Royal Enfield attempt at a disc brake in the early sixties. It was in all the mags at the time and was abandoned as it was capable of bending the forks they were currently using. It would not be improbable that other makes tried it as the components were available.
It would seem that the Royal Enfield design gave serious stopping power, I don't know how they did that as disc brakes on cars of the time were not good until they came up with servo application.

I'm back after wondering around France on my V----t. I have just fitted a new "improved " back brake to my "outfit"-8" instead of 7, and 50% wider!-the difference is unbelievable! I really wish for something better for my model "20"!

I'm sure you could graft one of those BSA 8" single sided brakes on quite easily if you have a lathe to alter the axle. But i think they're sort after. I'll get a pic on here in a few days.Go to Top of Page

Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong, but the only 'hydraulics' on AMC brakes Im aware of were the nice conversions completed by Malcolm Saggers??, where he added a Mini?? master cylinder on the back plate to push the shoes out and create an hydraulic drum brake....
Anyway, as my father once commented to me when I was bemoaning the lack of performance from my Honda 50.
'If you want it to go faster or stop quicker, try losing a stone or two'

Umm, yeah, thanks Dad!

Just looked on the search function, type in 'Saggers Hydraulic Brake' for forum post from a cpl years back for more details.

Regards KK

Top tip - if it needs more than 2 bolts to hold it on, its probably important...Go to Top of Page

Rex, if you could see the "width" of the original V----t brake-50% extra is still not a lot!-the "drum" is "dished"-narrower near the hub. Can't make "the annual" this year-see you at "the alternative!"
